Notes
This drawing depicts a kettle from my kitchen. I was genuinely mesmerized by the elegant combination of forms -- which I explore further on the next slide -- and by the impressionistic reflections on the kettle’s surface. These qualities felt particularly well suited to charcoal, a medium that effortlessly creates tonal variation and, almost synchronistically, places shadowy forms exactly where they need to be.
Kettle Study – Form Analysis
Sketchbook excerpts exploring the underlying geometric forms of the kettle, including the sphere, cone, cylinder, and related volumes.

These studies were made to familiarize myself with the structure of the object and the relationships between its parts in preparation for the finished drawing. Particular attention was given to analyzing how light falls across each form, helping to clarify volume and tonal transitions.
